When it was obvious that the box was proving interesting to the Blue Tits a camcorder was set up to monitor the events and when we were satisfied that they had settled, it was left running to film the feeding of and eventual departure of the brood of 2. Unfortunately we found 4 bodies remaining when the box was cleaned out.
Following the departure of the fledglings we trained the camcorder on the feeder and obtained good shots of: Goldfinches, Greenfinches and Blue and Great Tits, from which photographs and video were produced.
2005 was a failure as the nest was built but abandoned during the crucial period as double glazing was being installed in the main building.
2006 we were hoping for a whole new venture for Bedesmans Bird Watchers as a new homemade box complete with camera inside replaced the old one, but alas due to reasons we believe yet again our feathered friends got scared off at the most crucial time.
However, 2007 is looking promising. We now have two camboxes set up and have introduced a multi-feed bird station (see above) which has seen much interest since last summer by: Blue Tits, Great Tits and even the Robins have been visiting frequently.
On 1st Feb a Blue Tit popped into one of our boxes showing much interest, so fingers crossed that it will make its home here this year.
